The partnership will enable government and defense agencies to access more than 200 Chegg Skills courses through PowerTrain’s Callisto learning platform, spanning areas such as AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and business communications.
With established customers including the military services, Defense agencies, the Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies, PowerTrain provides Chegg Skills with a new route into the significant U.S. government and defense workforce training market. The partnership will expand Chegg Skills’ reach across federal, state, and local government, while strengthening PowerTrain’s portfolio with AI-focused, outcomes-driven training designed to build practical, job-ready skills.
The partnership comes as government and public sector organizations face growing workforce skills challenges. Chegg’s 2026 Frontline Workers Skills Index found that 33% of public sector and government employers describe the sector as having a “serious” or “crisis-level” skills gap – while 23% say they spend more than 8 hours a week compensating for skills shortages.
“Access to information alone doesn’t build a skilled workforce. What matters is whether people can apply what they’ve learned in real-world situations,” said Colin Coggins, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Chegg Skills. “Our partnership with PowerTrain gives us an opportunity to bring this approach to government and defense organizations, helping employees develop applied technical skills and AI proficiency to perform with confidence and deliver meaningful impact.”
“At PowerTrain, we’re committed to helping government and defense agencies build future-ready workforces that are AI literate and technically fluent,” said Paul Jesukiewicz, Vice President of Innovation at PowerTrain. “Our partnership with Chegg Skills strengthens our ability to deliver practical, outcomes-driven training that equips employees with the skills they need today and for the future.”
Grounded in learning science, Chegg Skills’ programs emphasize hands-on practice and demonstrated skills rather than passive content consumption. According to Chegg Skills’ latest Impact Report, 67% of learners apply their new skills on the job immediately, while 75% say they feel more confident using AI and digital tools.
Chegg Skills courses available through PowerTrain include AI-Powered Cyber Threat Intelligence, which focuses on how artificial intelligence strengthens threat intelligence by identifying risks and improving cyber defense decision-making; Applying Human Judgment in AI-Assisted Work, which explores how human judgment, empathy, and ethical reasoning contribute to successful AI-assisted work; AI and Machine Learning for Security Monitoring, which focuses on machine learning technologies that help security teams identify threats faster; and Effective Messaging Strategies for Workplace Productivity, which focuses on improving productivity while using workplace communication tools.
Courses can be purchased individually or combined into broader learning pathways, giving agencies the flexibility to address specific workforce priorities. Agencies can also work with Chegg Skills to develop customized training aligned with their needs, delivered through Chegg Skills’ online learning platform.
