General Assembly Launches AI Academy to Close AI Skills Gap Across All Roles

Modular set of courses helps businesses quickly upskill employees amid accelerating corporate AI adoption

General Assembly, the leading talent and upskilling community, launched its AI Academy, a comprehensive training program to address the widening AI skills gap threatening enterprise transformation initiatives.

Most tech hiring managers (89%) report their companies plan to increase AI investments in the coming year, according to research conducted by General Assembly. Despite this aggressive push for AI adoption, organizations face a critical shortage of qualified talent.

“Companies are rushing to adopt AI but failing to bring their workforces along,” said General Assembly CEO Daniele Grassi. “The growing disconnect between technology investments and human capabilities is a significant barrier to achieving ROI from AI. The AI Academy offers flexible, modular training pathways targeting specific business functions, including HR, marketing, sales and product management. The program delivers expert-led, practical and hands-on instruction that focuses on immediate applications of AI tools to increase productivity and drive tangible business outcomes.

According to a survey, over half of tech hiring managers (51%) cite productivity enhancements as the primary motivation for their organizations’ AI investments. However, AI development and proficiency with AI tools for productivity are the skills they say they most lack with existing talent. More than three-quarters (76%) believe there’s potential to upskill or reskill employees to meet these demands.

The AI Academy’s modular approach allows organizations to customize training pathways based on businesses’ specific needs and existing talent. General Assembly will also offer free AI training classes and AI workshops for anyone looking to learn how to use AI to excel in their professional or personal endeavors.
